Synopsis
Sexuality, class and commitment are deftly explored in this comedy-drama set in the gentrifying Los Angeles neighborhood of East L.A. Diego runs the family restaurant with his grandmother in their close-knit, conservative community. He is also carrying on a torrid affair with the equally-closeted Pablo. Feeling trapped, he dreams of moving away and opening his own upscale restaurant -- and living out in the open with Pablo. But his lover views their situation differently. Soon Pablo is dating a woman – Diego’s Aunt Bianca! Diego then finds himself attracted to Wesley, one-half of a white gay couple new to their neighborhood.
Frequently funny but always embracing of the human condition, East Side Story expertly balances the farcical and the topical.
